This group of 15 volunteers dedicate their time to tending to the Rose Garden and all other rose bushes on the property every week, host the “Meet the Rose Gardener” events held once a month, and provide classes about rose gardening for every season. The 2023 year has proved to be quite difficult because of many different environmental factors, mostly pests like the Japanese Beetle (Popillia japonica) and Rose Midge (Dasineura rhodophaga). This resilient volunteer group has done a huge amount of work to combat these challenges. Although the roses are not blooming as much as years past, all growth is due to the hard work from our volunteers. The volunteers have implemented new techniques, ideas, and determination for the future of the rose bushes on the property. Hudson Gardens is so thankful for their time, effort, and care that they provide every year.
