AGES: 3rd–6th Grade
THREE-CLASS SERIES: October 15, 22, and 29 | 3:30–5:30 PM
All Supplies Provided (except for a camera)

Let the beauty of Hudson Gardens inspire the young artist in your family. Register your 3rd to 6th grader today for our new visual and fine arts enrichment program, which explores both photography and watercolor painting in a three-class series. Students will learn what makes a great photo and how to use photographs to assist in the painting process.

Photography and painting complement each other well. This hands-on, mostly outdoors class, includes a variety of activities and games that will help the students gain foundational skills for both photography and painting. By the end of the program, students will understand composition, lighting, shading, color theory, brush strokes, design elements and more. Basic techniques are presented in an easy to understand way with plenty of time for practice.

All supplies are provided (except for a camera). All participants will take home a backpack filled with watercolor supplies, including a tray of watercolors, paint brush, aquabrush (which has a barrel that can be filled with water), clipboard, paper, ruler, sketching pencil, folder filled with reference pages, Bingo board game card, and more!

The two-hour class will meet every Thursday for three weeks at Hudson Gardens. Learning will take place outdoors (weather permitting) and indoors in the Classroom located in the Residence Business Offices. No make-up classes will be offered for missed classes. No experience is needed.

Walk-in registrations are not allowed; you must pre-register. Masks are not required for children 10 and younger. Please read our COVID-19 protocols for classes on the main classes/program page.

*Classes may be cancelled, rescheduled or moved to an online format in accordance with public health orders and/or inclement weather.
