The day you become a beekeeper, you also become a mitekeeper and successfully managing your mites will directly affect your hive’s ability to thrive. The class will cover the various methods used to assess Varroa mite levels in your hive and how to manage your bees for maximum health in the face of the greatest current threat to bee populations. This class will cover topics such as the principles behind IPM, the life cycle of the Varroa mite, how to count Varroa mites, and how to control Varroa mites using both mechanical approaches and soft chemical treatments.

This class will be offered online via the Zoom platform. Registered participants will be emailed a link to the class several days before the class.
