Watercolor is the perfect medium for capturing the foliage and flowers of the Gardens. Join Holly D’Oench, The Watercolor Naturalist for this introductory class and explore the nuances of painting with watercolors. Discover a variety of tools and techniques used to mix and apply colors, add textures and create detail in your paintings. Through personal instruction, demonstration and practical, hands-on exercises this class will nurture your creativity while helping you explore your unique painting style. Have fun during this 2.5 hour class learning the fundamentals of watercolor, using the Gardens as inspiration.

The class will also cover specific techniques to achieve 3D form and creating highlights and shadows. Participants will also learn in-depth information about types of watercolor paper, watercolor paint brands, and types of palettes. Participants will be armed with enough knowledge to make informed purchasing decisions for purchasing supplies for home.

All materials are provided, and all levels are welcome. Program will meet at the Inn at Hudson Gardens. Space is limited, and advance registration is required. Sorry, this program is not suitable for young children.
