Water Garden Home to over 140 varieties of plants, the Water Garden and surrounding area is one of the most popular and highly visited of all displays at The Hudson Gardens. Its acclaimed lotus display blooms in July and August, producing hundreds of towering lotus blossoms. Each lotus stalk grows upwards of four feet in height and each flower blooms for three days, changing from pink on the first day to yellow on the third. Plants in the Water Garden rest in a natural soil bed consisting of leaves, debris, dirt, and decaying vegetation that has settled along the bottom of the pond. It also features a variety of hardy water lilies and bog plants, as well as a multitude of bullfrogs. The Water Garden provides a valuable educational resource on hardy water lily culture, both for school-age groups and homeowners. The Colorado Water Garden Society graciously contributes to the maintenance of The Water Garden. Learn more about the Water Garden.
