Family Explorer Packs

Looking for a family activity during your visit? Ask to borrow a Family Explorer Pack! Each pack provides you with a variety of hands-on materials such as spy glasses, clue cards, and insect eye lenses that help you complete a self-guided tour through our 30-acre site. Choose from the following activities: Frog Hunt, Making Sense, Woodland Wonders, Leaf Lookout, or Secret Spaces.  Family Explorer Packs may be rented for $5 per pack, which can satisfy up to five people.

Birding in the Gardens

Check out this guide, filled with pictures and descriptions of the different bird species that you are most likely to come across at The Hudson Gardens. Designed to help you begin identifying birds, this easy-to-use beginner’s guide to birding is accompanied by use of a pair of high-focus binoculars. The guide is available on a check-out basis and is free of charge. A $10 refundable deposit and ID are required and will be returned upon successful return of the guide and binoculars. Guides may be checked out daily from May through October, 9 AM – 3 PM.

Interpretive Tree Trail

Whether your next visit to The Hudson Gardens is your first or fiftieth, you won’t want to miss this self-guided tour of fifteen fascinating trees growing at The Hudson Gardens! You will see species of trees that grew when the dinosaurs roamed the earth, relatives of the largest living organism on earth, and some of the largest trees in Colorado. Plan on spending at least an hour and a half to complete the 1.25 mile trail. This interpretive guide is available free of charge at the Gift Shop beginning in late April 2012.

Meet the Beekeeper

Stop by our apiary while our beekeepers are working their hives, and you’ll have the chance to observe working beehives and real-life management techniques. These sessions offer the opportunity to simply observe, or, to seek answers to all of the questions you have about beekeeping that you’ve never had the chance to ask!

Sessions are scheduled from 9:30 to 11:30 AM on the third Saturday of the month from May through September. Please check our calendar for upcoming dates. These events are open to the public and free with paid admission to The Gardens.

Meet the Vegetable Gardeners

Join Colorado Master Gardeners at the Vegetable Garden to view live demonstrations on gardening with edibles. Sessions are offered twice a month from April through September and offer opportunities to observe bed preparation, planting, weeding and maintenance, harvesting, and everything in between! You’ll also be able to seek answers and get advice on all of your “how-to” questions from these experts who plan and maintain The Hudson Gardens’ Vegetable Garden each year.

Sessions are scheduled on weekdays twice a month. Please check our calendar for upcoming dates. These events is open to the public and free with paid admission to The Gardens. All ages are welcomed.

Self-Guided Tours

Self-guided walking tours are available year-round. Tour The Gardens at your leisure, and be sure to pick up the Garden literature posted at several features of interest throughout our 30-acre site. No reservations necessary; the cost is regular Garden admission.
