Vegetable Garden The Vegetable Garden demonstrates both traditional, row-style planting as well as block-style planting. Block-style planting, also called close-row or wide-row plantings, increases plant production up to five times that of traditional row-style planting, yielding even greater production for kitchen vegetable gardens. The compact design reduces weeding and is ideal for raised beds such as those at The Hudson Gardens. The Hudson Gardens’ vegetable garden is planted and maintained in partnership with the Colorado State University Extension - Arapahoe County Colorado Master Gardener Program. All vegetables featured in this garden are easily grown and widely available. All vegetables that are harvested at the conclusion of the growing season are donated to The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), which is federally-funded through the state of Colorado. In 2011, over 500 pounds of produce was donated!
