Cascades

The soft sounds of a flowing cascade lend an element of surprise at the south end of The Gardens. This quiet area for reflection was created by the gentle slope of the path down from the Conifer Grove. The water flowing through this area is re-circulated from the upper pond, through the Cascades, down to the main pond, and returns to the upper pond. The water supply comes from the City Ditch, which was built by Richard Little, for which the City of Littleton was named. .

The Cascades is left intentionally natural and boasts a vast collection of native shrubs and plants designed to attract wildlife. Its collection includes Dogwood, Apache Plume, Ninebark, Willows, Alder, and Boulder Raspberry. An ideal habitat for wildlife and bog plants, the Cascades attract a variety of birds and is one of the most photogenic spots in The Gardens.
