Below is a glance at what’s beautiful this month at The Hudson Gardens.

Featured Plant of the Month: Spring Snow Crabapple, Malus x ‘Spring Snow’   

Garden Locations: Concert Amphitheater

Distinguishing Features: Most known at Hudson Gardens for the shade it provides during the summer concert series, the grove of Spring Snow Crabapples at The Hudson Gardens is a true sight to see during winter. These beauties are planted in a grove of six and are framed by an expansive lawn and small pond. Spring Snow Crabapple’s tightly-compacted branches provide winter interest and become more picturesque as spring approaches when they are adorned with an abundance of small, white, showy blossoms.

Growth and Maintenance:
Height: 20’ – 25’
Spread: 15’ – 20’
Growth Habit: Tree; canopy is densely branched and symmetrical
Light requirement: Full sun
Soil Moisture: Moist, well-drained, well- adapted to most soil types
Drought tolerance: Moderate
Cold Hardiness: 3A – 8A
Cultivation: Can be susceptible to scab, fireblight, and rust
