General Descriptions of Volunteer Opportunities
Administrative (Time Commitment: varies)
- Help with mailings and other office duties at The Hudson Gardens & Event
Center.
Concerts/Events (Time Commitment: 4 hours approximately)
- Admissions
Sell tickets to the event, collect money, collect ticket stubs, give
directions, check coolers for glass and alcohol.
- Concessions
Set up concessions areas, prepare menu items, serve guests and collect money
in exchange for food items.
- Hospitality
Maintain the hospitality areas for the entertainers’ providing water, soft
drinks, snacks, towels, and transportation for performers and their crews.
- Information
Welcome guests to The Gardens, provide event and Gardens information, give
directions and answer questions.
- Production
Assist The Gardens’ staff, sound and lighting crews, and performers set up and
tear down events and concerts.
- Transportation
Volunteers use golf carts to transport guests from parking areas to event
seating areas who may have accessibility issues, many belongings, long
distances, etc.
Education (Time Commitment: varies)
- Assist in assembling Explorer Packs, refilling the information boxes
throughout The Gardens, and placing plant identification tags.
Gift Shop (Time Commitment: 4 hours)
- Serve as greeters and cashiers, ticket sellers give brief orientations and
answer questions from our visitors. Volunteers may assist with taking
inventory periodically.
Garden Railroad (Time Commitment: varies)
- Trained in operating our electric trains. Offer information on the trains
to our guests.
Landscaping (Time Commitment: 3 hours)
- Help maintain our showcase gardens. Activities include planting, pruning,
weeding, and grooming.
Tour guides (Time Commitment: 2 hours)
- Provide guided golf cart or walking tours to guests. Share their knowledge
of The Gardens’ history, answer visitor’s questions or put them in contact
with staff members who can assist them.
