. . . just a 'shade' to the right . . .

Tucked away in the southwest corner of The Gardens is the Shade Garden, where Columbines (Aquilegia) and other shade loving plants create a welcome escape. Due to the lack of direct sun, shade gardens are often less floriferous; a variety of textures among leaves create the visual impact of this quiet garden.

Home to foxes and birds, the backdrop to this garden to the south and west is created by Mohican (Viburnum lantana) positioned by the south fence near the beehives.

Other "shade lovers" are located in the nearby Secret Garden and on the west side of the Water Garden.
