Join staff members from The Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory on
guided walks through the Gardens, focusing on bird habitats and adaptations.
Students will view birds in an urban habitat and will deepen their knowledge of
the factors that contribute to bird populations, sizes, and distributions.

- Cost: $6.00 per student.
- Availability: Mornings, April and May 2010. 15-60 students can be
accommodated at one time.
- Schedule: Reserve your date and time by contacting the Rocky Mountain
Bird Observatory at (303) 659-4348 ext. 15. All programs must be scheduled two
weeks in advance.

Students can wind their way around The Gardens with a scavenger hunt, explore aquatic life at the Water Garden, or take a closer look at the many plants and animals that inhabit The Gardens. Adult assistance is essential for the successful completion of these activities.

- Cost: $2.50 per student. One adult admitted free for every ten
students, additional adults $3.50 each. Financial assistance is available for
qualified school groups.

A variety of age-appropriate scavenger hunts encourage students to use their senses and improve their observation skills as they seek specific features throughout The Gardens. Pictorial and word-based hunts are available. Preschool – Grade 2.

Play Pollinator Bingo to discover how pollinators visit certain types of flowers and help them make seeds. Play just like regular BINGO, but instead of using BINGO letters, students will look for certain types of flowers and the pollinators they attract. Preschool – Grade 2.

Students sharpen their math and observation skills as they explore the anatomy
of a pumpkin, examine the diversity of a pumpkin patch, and identify common
characteristics of pumpkins of various shapes, sizes, and colors. Preschool –
Grade 2, September--October only.

The Water Garden provides the perfect opportunity to observe real frogs in their native environment. Students observe the various stages of the frog life cycle and explore the various ways in which frogs utilize their natural habitat. Kindergarten – Grade 4.

|
|
|
|
Students observe
conifers on site, counting needles in bundles or observing cones or buds to follow a key and determine the plant's identity. Ability to read or chaperone assistance required. Grades 2-6.
